  What is the philosophy behind Mothership?  
 

The guys who created Mothership want to create a site that:

  • bridges the gap between gay dating and gay social networking.
  • allows a high level of profile customisation so that you can create amazing profiles.
  • facilitates a friendly, open aged (18+) and fun environment.

  
  Why does Mothership only cover the UK and Ireland?  
  We’ve decided to concentrate on the UK and Ireland to begin with, although we may add other countries in the future.  
  Can I join Mothership if I don’t live in the UK and Ireland?  
  Yes, but only if you are visiting the UK and Ireland, or planning to visit. You need to use the location of where you’ll be staying when you visit.  
  Do I have to like sci-fi to use Mothership?  
  NO! Our futuristic styling is part of our theme which gives us a distinctive and noticeable brand – it is not more important than providing an effective gay dating and social networking site to our members.  
  How does Mothership offer gay dating and social networking in one site?  
 

There is a natural overlap between gay dating and socialising. Not only that, but when our members ‘board’ Mothership they choose between 2 reasons for boarding (‘looking to meet up’ and ‘just hanging out’) so you can see straight away if someone is looking to date or not. Also our search facilities allow you to filter your results to include guys just looking for friends, or romance, or sex (or all three!).

ABOUT MULTIPLE PROFILES

  What is a profile?  
  Your profile is like an online version of your personal ad, which can be seen by other members and if you have clicked Mothership Live by non-members too. Your profile typically contains photos of yourself and information about you and what you are looking for. On Mothership it can be customised with audio, wallpaper, slideshows and much more.  
  How many profiles can you have on Mothership?  
  1 main profile and 2 sub profiles.  
  Why would I want more than one profile?  
 

You may wish to have more than one profile for many reasons. For instance:

  • A profile for sex, a profile for romance, a profile for friendship.
  • Profiles for different kinds of sex.
  • Different profiles for different locations if you spend your time in different geographic locations.
  • A profile for you, one for your boyfriend, and one for the 2 of you.
  
  Do sub profiles appear any different to main profiles?  
  No, it is not possible to tell whether a profile is a sub profile or main profile.  
  Will the option to have sub profiles become a chargeable benefit in the future?  
 

Yes. If you are unlikely to subscribe in the future you are still welcome to use sub profiles, however note that at some point they will become a chargeable benefit and may be frozen if you choose not to subscribe. You should be aware of this before setting them up.

  
  Can I have more than one main profile?  
  No.  
  Can I use more than one profile at any time on Mothership?  
  No, our systems prevent you using more than one of your main/sub profiles at any time. However you can switch between them easily by returning to the Airlock.  
  What is the Airlock?  
  The Airlock is your pre-boarding zone that you always pass through when logging in to Mothership. In the airlock you can see your main profile and any sub profiles you have set up with an indication as to how many messages and friends onboard there are for each one. You can choose which profile to take ‘onboard’ by hitting ‘just hanging out’ or ‘looking to meet up’ next to the profile you want to use.  
ABOUT PROFILE CUSTOMISATION
  In what ways can I customise my profile(s) on Mothership?  
 

Registration : Our registration process captures some information about you. Most of it is entirely optional, but the more you give the more you’ll get out of Mothership as other members will know more about you and you’re more likely to make friends and meet other compatable guys.

Photos : Once you’ve registered we strongly recommend you upload photographs to your profile – at least a signature image, and then you can add further public (non x-rated) and private (x-rated) photos if you like. You can also put your photos into a slide show too.

Further information : We recommend that once you have registered you add further information about yourself that is not covered by our registration process. For instance if you are looking for sex or a relationship you may wish to fill in sexual information about yourself like fetishes, and if you are looking for friends you might want to add your hobbies/interests and sports that you like. All this can be done in the Profile and Media Manager.
