Virgin Active are blocking internet access in their gyms to gay websites like Pink Paper
Pink Paper Website Censored by Virgin Active Gyms
Pink Paper have the hump with Virgin Active gyms. Apparently Virgin’s gyms have been blocking their site from being viewed on their in-gym internet terminals.
One of Pink Paper’s readers tried to access the site after a workout and was met with a message saying it had been blocked. The message went on to read:
“…our internet terminals can be used by young children and we have a moral obligation to parents and guardians to ensure unsuitable content is not available via our network.”
oooh!! How section 28!
The recession has put the boot into Pink Paper’s fortnightly gay newspaper and they are now concentrating on their online version, so censorship is exactly what they DON’T need, especially as they have less than 10% of the readership of their arch-rival, Pink News.
I must remember to NEVER work out in a Virgin gym! It appears they are run by homophobes, and over-run by young children!
Apparently Virgin outsource their internet filtering, and as for removing the homophobic ban, Virgin claim the company responsible will “consider the option”.
Looks like Virgin Active’s hand-washing facilities are top-notch though!

Oh my, oh my. What will Virgin Atlantic’s trolley dolly’s do when they try to access Pink Paper’s website after a workout in the gym and a steamy session in the sauna?
