RIP Sub Profiles and the Airlock
We’ve removed sub profiles from Mothership Gay Dating, and without them there is no need for the Airlock, so that has gone too.
Sub profiles have been with Mothership since we launched almost 2 years ago, but they never took off. We thought that giving gay guys more than one profile would be popular, but we were wrong - hardly anyone used them.
Sub profiles and the Airlock unnecessarily complicated Mothership and were confusing to new guys, so getting rid of them is a very positive step forward and we’re very relieved on the bridge!
Now you can select between Hanging Out and Looking to Meet Up on the Dashboard, which will be the first page you now hit after you log in.
Live Profiles Updated
We have now also updated the LIVE profiles in line with Mothership 2.5.
Live profiles are a version of member profiles that can be seen outside Mothership. However, only members who OPT-IN have a live profile. Otherwise your profile can ONLY be seen by other logged-in users.
There is no X-rated imagery on live profiles, but apart from that they are the almost the same as your Mothership profile. When you make your profile live you get a unique Mothership web address and you can link to this or quote it when you want other guys to see it. It may even appear in search engine listings too, especially if you link to it and keep it updated regularly.
To make your profile live, simply hit the button on the Dashboard. You can undo this at any time in the same way. Also, whenever you update your Mothership profile then hit the new ‘Synch’ button and it will update your live profile too!
Add Twitter Widget to Your Profile
On Mothership you have amazing profile customisation options. This includes the free-form ‘main text’ area where you can insert HTML/javascript code. This means you can put all sorts of 3rd party applications on your Mothership profile - including a Twitter widget!
If you have a Twitter account then you can show your most recent ‘tweets’ on your Mothership profile by inserting the Twitter widget. It is very easy. See an example here (lots on this profile so takes a while to load).

Don’t forget on Mothership you can include audio, video, wallpaper, slideshows, YouTube and XTube embeds and much more on your profile! Go on…make your profile rock! Then make it live too!
