So far on Mothership we’ve covered how to get the perfect ass, a great chest and the importance of water for muscle growth. The next body part that gay men are concerned with is arms.  A bulging bicep against your T shirt is bound to impress your date!

The secret to a great pair of arms is not to train them too frequently. They are the most easily over trained part of the body. Why? Whenever you train your chest, you’ve trained your triceps. Similarly, whenever you train your back, you’ve trained your biceps. So if say, at the end of a chest workout you then start training your triceps by doing three or four exercises for them, you are going to over train the tricep and so get no growth.

The bi’s and tri’s are such a small muscle group [compared to chest or back] that you only need do two exercises for either bi’s or tri’s. Remember, it’s when you leave the gym and rest, eat well and get plenty of water that you are really going to get the growth that you want. Once again, patience is key! Read the rest of this entry »

Treasure Your Chest

You see them approaching you out of the dim recesses of the gay club. Caught by the flashing lights, the two voluminous mounds of flesh are coming your way. Curvaceous. Desirous. Tactile. Dare you put out your hand for just a touch? Whether it’s filling out a t-shirt or looking good on the beach or in a club, nothing impresses more than a well-shaped chest.

So how do our Mothership readers get a great chest? The secret is, as for all body parts, don’t overtrain it. Whatever type of routine you are on, your split should make the chest PART of your workout – not the WHOLE workout.

A program should have no more than four exercises for the chest. I prefer three myself. Some guys will tell you different. They’ll go on about how they do six or seven exercises for anything up to an hour and a half on the gym floor. Some guys get big despite their training – not because of it! Warm Me Up Baby!

by Scott Sherwood

So you want to get fit and look good to spice up your love life.  You decide to go workout at the gym.  But how do you warm up for your workout? Do you do ten minutes on the bike to get the blood pumping? Maybe you follow this by some stretching to limber up the joints? One thing I’ve found as a personal trainer is how many people get it wrong to warm up for the workout that they are about to do. Let me dispel a few myths when it comes to warming up. Water 4 Sport

by Scott Sherwood
So you want to look good?  You want to win Mothership’s ‘you’re hot’ competition?  You decide to work out - but before you do so fill up your water bottle!  A water deficit of 2 to 4% of body weight can result in a 10 to 21% loss of strength. Worse yet, your aerobic power will be reduced by a massive 48%!

It is tasteless, colourless, odourless and it has no calories. This simple molecule is the most vital ingredient for growth and health. What is it? Water! Any gay model will tell you, it’s not just the moisturiser – it’s the moisture. You have to have enough water for your skin to look good in the first place. Let me explain to you now why you won’t achieve any of your training goals if you don’t get enough of this stuff! Read the rest of this entry »

Get That Ass!

Name me one part of a gay man that always draws comment? You’ll no doubt look at his face first, you may even notice how well he fills out his t-shirt but you will always comment on his ass – and that’s before you’ve started undressing him!

So what does it take to get an ass that excites ‘Ooohs’ and “Aaahs’ rather than ‘Ewwws’ and ‘Errrs’? That is the purpose of this article. A cute ass is a real bonus in gay dating, so let’s get you the best ass possible.

The ass is, correctly, the gluteus maximus or glutes. The largest muscle to be found in the body. It can be worked in isolation but is best worked when part of a leg workout. Now don’t groan! What would be better to follow a great ass than a shapely pair of legs?

The most common reason why people skip ass and legs is simple - it hurts! It hurts when you do them and it can hurt like hell the next day. You see a stairwell as a mountain.

But if you want to get a better upper body, work on the lower body - they have a close relationship with each other. Why? The body tries to keep symmetry, not only between left and right, but also between top and bottom. If you work on your legs and they start to grow, you will find that your upper body will grow even faster. Read the rest of this entry »
