Gay rights charity Stonewall has stopped the DVLA from auctioning two vehicle registration plates which would have netted the government vehicle agency around £1800 in total!
Yes, fellow gays, sleep well tonight, because we live in the blessed knowledge that the evil registration numbers F4G0T and D1KES have been withdrawn! These evil, nasty, homophobic instruments of LGBT torture have been consigned forever to the number plate graveyard.
Cause for celebration?
Now no anti-gay person can fork out £900 and get these number plates fitted on their car, just so they can drive up and down Old Compton Street and cruelly laugh as they watch the gays fleeing in terror for their lives!
Thank you, Stonewall - you’ve saved the day again!!
Oh, and one minor thing. Never mind about that trivial little Equality Bill! You know the one? The all-arching government bill which seeks to bring together equality for all minority groups - the one on which you were consulted by the government, and agreed to a specific amendment - that applies only for sexual orientation - that means the new Equality Bill does not protect us from harrassment.

Yes, that one! The Equality Bill which is in fact far from equal. The Equality Bill that actually discriminates against LGBT people - with Stonewall’s blessing.
Stonewall’s latest published financial statement shows that it is over 70% funded by individual and corporate donations - that’s people like you and I giving our hard earned cash to the charity, or our employers. The charity’s donors expect Stonewall to spend these resources wisely, maximising the benefit for the lesbian and gay community.
Instead our biggest UK lesbian and gay charity pick a fight with DVLA over something that doesn’t matter at all, yet roll over completely over something that matters a great, great deal. Shame on them.
Has Stonewall lost the plot?
You carry on fighting the battles that really matter, Stonewall. Don’t worry about trivial things like the Equality Bill.
