Gerald and Eddie, Giraffe and Goat, the Best of Pals
Animal magic - Eddie and Gerald have loved each other for 3 years!
Get ready for an unlikely love story.
Gerald the giraffe and Eddie the goat love each other! The four legged friends at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm in Bristol share the same pen and have been inseparable for three years!
Originally Eddie was placed in Gerald’s pen to stop him being lonely while they found Gerald a mate. However finding him a compatable female giraffe has been very difficult (hmmm…) and as he and Eddie have been getting on so well the arrangement has continued.
Gerald adores Eddie and even lets him eat from the trough first, and licks him on the head in the warm weather. For Eddie’s part keeper Sammi Luxa said:
“Eddie then climbs onto Gerald’s neck and gives him a cuddle.”
Apparently the unlikely pair bonded from day one, and despite the obvious height difference they spend all their time together, even sharing the same bedding (!)
Could there be trouble on the horizon if they do manage to find a suitable female giraffe companion for Gerald? Ms Luxa doesn’t think so:
‘I think Eddie will be ok if Gerald gets a mate moved into the enclosure. He isn’t really the jealous type, but you never know.’
