Dustin Lance Black sues Starzlife.com over bareback photos

The gay activist and Oscar winning ‘Milk’ screenplay writer Dustin Lance Black is suing the website Starzlife.com for publishing X-rated photos and a video of him and his gay lover Jeffrey Delancey having bareback sex three years ago.

He’s filed a lawsuit in the California Central District Court against Starzlife and Delancey’s ex boyfriend who he claimed stole the photos

The bareback photos whipped up a huge controversy in the gay press because some guys thought he was hypocritical because Black is a leading safe sex campaigner in the States.  Mothership Blog followers may remember we argued he has nothing to apologise for!  Now it looks like Black is after his pound of flesh!

Dustin Lance Black is alleging invasion of privacy, copyright infringement and violation of the right of publicity and plenty more too!  Interestingly, he claims he thought the photos had been deleted long ago, and that he wasn’t aware he was being filmed at the time.

You can read more detail of the lawsuit here.  The photos and video are no longer on the Starzlife website.

Enjoyed the video clip of Dustin Lance Black, made exciting by the preparations for New York Pride in the background.
I don’t see it as a contradiction for someone like DLB to promote safe sex in public and enjoy bareback sex in private (well, it was in the first instance!) with a trusted friend or lover. He is putting out the right message for general consumption. To do the opposite in private isn’t being hypocritical, it’s just being human.
