Does Size Matter When You’re Gay?

As gay guys it seems that everywhere we turn – gay magazines, advertising, online gay dating, we’re subjected to imagery and suggestion about the male sexual organ, and most of the time the penises are oversized!  But does size matter that much to gay guys in real life?

Yes, and no.  In a survey on the Mothership forums when asked ‘Does size matter’, 29% of guys expressed a preference for a large penis, a huge 63% preferred an average size, but only 6% of guys preferred a small penis. 
 

What is the average penis length?

The average penis length is between 12.9-15cm long*.  However, many guys exaggurate the results!  To get an accurate result you need to:

1) Make sure you’re fully erect
2) Stand up
3) Hold your penis parallel to the floor
4) With your penis totally hard, measure it along the TOP, from the end of the glans to where your penis meets the abdomen

I’m Worried – My Penis is Smaller than Average

Don’t worry if your penis is smaller than average.  The amount of exposure we get as gay men to the great gay shrine of the penis is ridiculous, and it is bound to exagurate your concerns.  The truth is that there are still many hot gay guys out there who either don’t mind about penis size, or actually prefer a smaller penis.

Be proud for the physical attributes that you do have, maybe a great ass (another big gay plus!), amazing abs, a beautifully shaped penis, great legs, stunning eyes…the list goes on.  The point is, the penis is not the alpha and omega of gay physical desireability!  There is so much more to gay sexuality, including non-physical attributes like personality and chemistry.

I’m Still Worried – My Penis is Really Small

If you have a penis that is less than 7cm long when erect you may have a micropenis.  This can be successfully treated with surgery to bring your penis to an average size without any detrimental effects to sensation*.  See your GP.

For other guys worried about their penis length these things may help:

• Lose your belly and get in shape!  If your penis is partly obscured by your tummy it will look smaller.  Also you’ll feel much better about your body overall, and your penis size will seem less important.
• Trim your pubic hair –this will enhance the visible size of your penis, and is dead-sexy anyway!
• Don’t expose yourself when you’re cold, or nervous.  Both these conditions cause your penis to shrink.

If you’re really bothered, you could consider counselling or, as a last resort, surgery can add 2-3cm to the penis length by cutting the ligaments that attach it to the abdomen, and girth can be increased by silicon injections.  However, this extreme measure should not be undertaken lightly.

Before we get carried away with the gay culture’s zeal for the large penis, stop and spare a thought for the ultimate image of male beauty.  Michelangelo’s statue of David before his battle with Goliath has been enthralling millions with its masculine appeal for over 500 years. This bewitching depiction of a naked man in his prime has a small, perfectly formed penis.

So does size matter to gay guys?  To some, yes.  But have your insecurities about your penis size grown to giant-size proportions in your mind?  Maybe, like David, it’s time to slay your Goliath, and say ‘does size matter to me?’
