Is She Our Queen Too?

Did the Queen Support Anti-Gay Church Group or Didn’t She?

The Queen wrote letters of support to anti-gay Christian group

The Queen's private secretary wrote letters of support to anti-gay Christian group

The Queen has written twice to the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans offering her support and wishing them success, according to the Daily Telegraph today.

The Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (FCA) is a fundamentalist Christian group which has it in for gay priests and gay human rights big time!

The human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell said:

“Many leading members of FCA believe the civil and criminal law should discriminate against gay people. They do not believe that we are entitled to equal rights.

That is why they opposed the gay law reforms of the last decade, including an equal age of consent, civil partnerships, protection against discrimination, the repeal of Section 28, fostering and adoption by same-sex couples, and access to fertility treatment for lesbian partners.”

It is unbelievable that our Queen, the head of the Church, should take sides so strongly in such a matter. Read the rest of this entry »

Bishop Nazir-Ali has been called upon to repent for his homophobia

The human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell has called upon the outspoken Bishop of Rochester to repent his homophobia, after Bishop Nazir-Ali’s interview in today’s Sunday Telegraph in which he says homosexuals should “repent and be changed”.

Speaking today Tatchell said

“As an Asian man, the Bishop knows the pain of racial prejudice. I am shocked that he wants to inflict similar prejudice on gay people.

“Homophobia is a social and moral evil, just like racism. Bigotry, even in the guise of religion, has no place in a compassionate, caring society.

“I call on the Bishop to repent his homophobia. His prejudice goes against Christ’s gospel of love and compassion.

“This is merely the latest of many homophobic outbursts by the Bishop. He is a long-time vociferous opponent of gay quality and a strident supporter of legal discrimination against homosexuals. Read the rest of this entry »

Peter Tatchell "Those invited are mostly...tame apologists for new Labour"

Peter Tatchell has alleged that he was barred from a LGBT Downing Street reception in March after Gordon Brown’s personal intervention.  Tatchell also considers he has not been invited to a Downing Street Pride reception to be held on the morning of Pride London on Saturday because he is a critic of the government’s record on LGBT rights.

Speaking yesterday about the March reception Peter Tatchell said:

“An insider tipped me off that my name had been removed from the invite list, at Gordon Brown’s personal request. He was apparently still angry that I had heckled him over his government’s erosion of civil liberties, when he opened the Taking Liberties exhibition at the British Library late last year.”
