Bishop Nazir-Ali Assaults the Way We Love, then Ignores Mothership’s Three Questions
Bishop Nazir-Ali has ingnored Mothership's three questions...so far
Scroll down to email the Bishop yourself and help persuade him to answer our three questions.
So the Bishop of Rochester thinks that gay people should “…repent, and be changed“, right?
Well kind of. Suddenly yesterday after all the hoo-ha in the press about his interview in the Sunday Telegraph Bishop Nazir-Ali has issued a statement, in which he appears to water down the comments he made.
Hmmm - well, they don’t seem to be diluted that much! Here’s what he says now:
“On being pressed as to whether this included homosexuals, I said something to the effect that yes, we all need to repent when we fall short of God’s will and be transformed.”
Nothing’s changed – he’s just dressed up his homophobic comments in fancier words.
So, we asked the Bishop of Rochester three questions to try to get to the bottom of what, exactly, he proposes for gay people: Read the rest of this entry

Did the Queen Support Anti-Gay Church Group or Didn’t She?
The Queen's private secretary wrote letters of support to anti-gay Christian group
The Queen has written twice to the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans offering her support and wishing them success, according to the Daily Telegraph today.
The Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (FCA) is a fundamentalist Christian group which has it in for gay priests and gay human rights big time!
The human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell said:
“Many leading members of FCA believe the civil and criminal law should discriminate against gay people. They do not believe that we are entitled to equal rights.
That is why they opposed the gay law reforms of the last decade, including an equal age of consent, civil partnerships, protection against discrimination, the repeal of Section 28, fostering and adoption by same-sex couples, and access to fertility treatment for lesbian partners.”
It is unbelievable that our Queen, the head of the Church, should take sides so strongly in such a matter. Read the rest of this entry

Pink Paper Website Censored by Virgin Active Gyms
Pink Paper have the hump with Virgin Active gyms. Apparently Virgin’s gyms have been blocking their site from being viewed on their in-gym internet terminals.
One of Pink Paper’s readers tried to access the site after a workout and was met with a message saying it had been blocked. The message went on to read:
“…our internet terminals can be used by young children and we have a moral obligation to parents and guardians to ensure unsuitable content is not available via our network.”
Very section 28! Read the rest of this entry

Repent Your Homophobia Says Tatchell to Anti-Gay Bishop
Bishop Nazir-Ali has been called upon to repent for his homophobia
The human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell has called upon the outspoken Bishop of Rochester to repent his homophobia, after Bishop Nazir-Ali’s interview in today’s Sunday Telegraph in which he says homosexuals should “repent and be changed”.
Speaking today Tatchell said
“As an Asian man, the Bishop knows the pain of racial prejudice. I am shocked that he wants to inflict similar prejudice on gay people.
“Homophobia is a social and moral evil, just like racism. Bigotry, even in the guise of religion, has no place in a compassionate, caring society.
“I call on the Bishop to repent his homophobia. His prejudice goes against Christ’s gospel of love and compassion.
“This is merely the latest of many homophobic outbursts by the Bishop. He is a long-time vociferous opponent of gay quality and a strident supporter of legal discrimination against homosexuals. Read the rest of this entry
